
Leona Louise (born 3 April 1986) is a singer from America who is a songwriter, actor and singer. Born in the London Borough of Islington, she attended The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon. Lewis was recognized as a national talent after she was crowned the winner of the third series of The X Factor in 2006 which resulted in a PS1 million recording deal with Syco Music. The single she won in the contest, which was a cover Kelly Clarkson's track "A Moment like This," was downloaded 50,000 times in thirty minutes and peaked at number 1 for four weeks. In February 2007, Lewis was signed to a contract for five albums with the United States with Clive Davis's record label, J Records. Lewis's successes continued when she released her debut album, Spirit (2007). It has been certified as platinum by the UK it became the fourth best-selling album in the 2000s. It is reported by the Official Charts Company claims that Spirit was the best-selling 21st century album of debut by a female. The first single, "Bleeding Love", was a seven-week standout at number top in UK and was also the top-selling single of the year 2007. The single was the top-selling in 2008, as well. Lewis earned an award for her work, the Billboard Award for Best New Artist. In 2009, she debuted her second studio album, Echo and also composed the theme song, "I See You" in the movie Avatar. Lewis's hit single "Collide" is an collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii as well as Hurt: the EP, her first play that was extended. Glassheart (2012) was her third studio album. Lewis drew inspiration from dubstep and electronic music. She started recording tracks to her first Christmas album on the Glassheart Tour, which took place in mid 2013. Later that year, Christmas with Love was released, and included the title track "One more night" was ranked third on the charts in the UK. Lewis is who is a British female solo artist became the first to hit the top five with eight songs. It was a leap over Olivia Newton John's seven-year record.
